The story of Ethos Center for Yoga and Therapeutic Arts We are a wellness destination with daily yoga classes, table and chair massage, a full time counselor, light therapy, and lots more. We have a small tea room where you can relax between your yoga class and massage, and also a small retail shop where your can buy sweatshop-free clothing and cruelty-free soaps and lotions. The studio will feature workshops on a range of topics from inversions and meditation to emotional eating and body image. Ethos has yoga classes for all body types, from Slow Flow to Hot Vinyasa all taught by Kathryn Nicolai who has been teaching since 2001. Kathryn trained at the Center for Yoga with Jonny Kest and has taught in many yoga studios across South-Eastern Michigan. She approaches yoga with an emphasis on cultivating a calm and balanced mind that can handle intense situations on and off the mat. Counseling and Life Coaching, by Mary Nicolai L.L.C., is available by appointment. Mary Nicolai, a long time yogini herself, has a special interest in working with people who struggle with disordered eating and an unhealthy body image. Ethos also offers massage therapy and light therapy. Spend a day at Ethos, learning how to strengthen your mind and body with yoga, working on behavior modification with a Life Coach, and relaxing with a massage or a cup of organic tea in front of a 10,000 lux light box. We are a family run business with high ethical standards that run through every aspect of the Center. All of our paper products are recycled, from our paper schedules to the napkins in the tea room. We only sell biodegradable mats and all of the products for sale in our shop are sweatshop-free and cruelty-free meaning that no humans or animals were harmed in the process. Ethos is more than a yoga studio; it is a safe and supportive environment in which to establish a healthy and lasting lifestyle. |
