In this workshop, we’ll be stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest and digestion. Many of us spend our time in the sympathetic nervous system, which activates the fight or flight response in the body. When you spend too much time in the sympathetic nervous system, you can develop involuntary responses such as high blood pressure, brain fog, sweating, and anxiety. When you activate the parasympathetic nervous system, it restores the mind and body to a state of calm and ease.
In this workshop, you’ll learn tools you can use when you’re in a state of stress. We’ll be exploring restorative yoga poses with a blindfold. Our eyesight is our most relied upon sense, so once this sense is eliminated from our yoga practice, inevitably, there is no choice but to turn inward and get in touch with the heightening of our other senses. This enhanced concentration brings much greater presence and mindfulness to your practice.
We’ll be exploring light breathwork that eases stress. Regulating breath is a way to calm your nervous system down and let your body know you are safe.
We’ll be marinating in a Yoga Nidra practice at the end of our practice. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation known as ‘yoga sleep.’
This practice changes brain waves to release emotional tension and allow the muscles to relax.
Are you ready to reset your nervous system and learn tools to help you manage the day-to-day stress?
