Strongheart Drum Meditation

  • Ethos Yoga 113 South Saginaw Street Holly, MI, 48442 United States (map)

A one-hour sound journey using a 28" Sioux Ceremonial Drum, 26" "Paiste" Sound Creation Gong, 47" Buffalo Drum, tubular bells, and Solfeggio Chimes, in addition to other traditional instruments. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, and anything you need to be comfortable for this sound journey.

Drums are connected to the heartbeat of the earth. The earthly energy calms the body, the stabilizing sound eases brain waves into a meditative state, opening it for a shamanic journey. Sacred drums work because sound moves in waves, in every direction. They meet us where we are and liberate us. They open opportunities to speak from the scar, not the wound. Their beats can calm and fortify those battered by anxiety, bring peace to those grieving, they empower those conquering their weakness. Sacred sound medicine delivered by drums is loving, non-judgmental; it will call out self-made obstacles in a heartbeat. A drum holds the space for the sacred part of you. Drums fill, cleanse, and support us, so we can be open to healing.

My Name is Ool Pardi. I was born in Estonia, a small country on the northern tip of Europe, bordering Russia. I bought my first drum when I was 26 years old. It was a Sioux ceremonial drum.  Soon after I bought an Alaskan Fire drum. I had no idea how to play them and for many years I lacked the confidence to try... and so a silent conversation began while I searched for a healing meditation.

Over the years, as my spiritual journey continued, the drums called to me louder and louder until finally in 2014, I took a drumming class from Spirit Hawk of the Ojibwa Nation. Around the same time, I also was given the name StrongHeart by Chief White Buffalo, at a gathering in Alcona County, MI. It was then that the long silence was over and StrongHeart DrumMedicine emerged. Today I play in yoga studios, churches, and private residences in the mid-Michigan area with my wife, Kellie. Together we create a unique meditation experience using native instruments from around the world.
